SLOOSH KIDSCARE is an Accredited Active After School/Before School, Vacation Care Service. We operate 50 weeks of the year and we are a not for profit incorporated association. We are situated at the Michael Wenden Aquatic Leisure Centre in Miller, 2168.
SLOOSH has been in operation for almost 10 years and over this time we have provided a safe, fun, sustainable and inclusive learning environment for the children of the Liverpool Community with our various programs that have been partially funded with successful Club Grant submissions. In 2018 we finally were able to renovate our outdoor area. It has made the world of difference to be able to deliver experiences that we struggled to in the past due to the restrictions and layout of the area..
The upgrade made a valuable contribution to the overall structure of the Michael Wenden centre which benefits businesses, groups, families and residents within the 2168 community.
Services we currently provide within our program include: -

We were running this program on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays for the past 5.5 years and our waiting was expanding. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we have had to put a hold on this program but will be providing again as soon as restrictions are lifted.
# Incursions and Excursions-planned by our qualified and experienced SLOOSH Staff based on surveys, observations and reflection/evaluations of past experiences
Each year we choose two fundraising/community events to plan and deliver to raise funds for various charities/community groups. Our relationships with various organisations continue to grow and we have delivered 3 events in the past 12mths working in collaboration with PCYC Liverpool, Hoxton Park Primary School and Camp Quality. Footy Colours Day raising much needed funds for the Fight Cancer Foundation, Time4Kids PCYC annual fundraiser and GO4Gold Kye Campaign raising funds for Camp Quality and awareness for childhood cancer.
In 2019 SLOOSH families supported and sponsored one of our children by running a Cadbury Chocolate fundraiser to get him to the Australian Gymnastic Championships in Melbourne as the youngest member on the NSW State Team. Go4Gold Kye Campaign is based on 9yr old Kye using his skills at trampoline, going for gold, to raise awareness for his 11year old brother Noah whom is battling an ultra-rare form of liver cancer called Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Noah also attends SLOOSH. Kye won a Bronze medal in Synchronised trampoline L5 U13yrs and won gold in Individual trampoline L5 U13yrs making kye National Champion. The support the SLOOSH families and children continue to provide make it possible for one of our own SLOOSHIES to follow his dreams. This year due to Covid-19 the events have all been cancelled for 2020 so whatever funds we have raised in the past 6mths will go towards a possible international World Event next year in November if Kye qualifies to be on the Australian Team.
#SLOOSH also continues to spread awareness for missing child William Tyrrell and we will never give up till the day he is found. William's Birthday and anniversary of his disappearance are implemented on our planning calendars. We also have regular visits from our Local Police and Fire Brigade and discuss important topics such as stranger danger, bullying and general safety precautions.
#We are currently planning our 10year Anniversary and aim to invite all families/ children that have attended our service during this time. Hoping to set a date in December if all is well and back to normal after the Covid-19 pandemic.
#SLOOSH implemented safe hygiene and social distancing policies and procedures and remained in operation during the Pandemic. It was a struggle due to the implementation of the new Early Childhood Package but during this time we employed a new Education Leader/ Coordinator whom we are so fortunate to have become part of our team.
We look forward to providing your children with new experiences and opportunities within our existing program. During the crisis we also made valuable use of the quieter period to review and update our settings, policies/ procedures and routines.
