Prince Henry Hospital Trained Nurses Association is a not for profit charity which does not receive financial assistance from governments or outside businesses. It is a stand alone small business whose aim is to educate, preserve and restore valuable historical artifacts.
Our activities include operating our museum which is open for the public to enjoy on Sundays between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm. We also conduct information tours of the museum during the week for many and varied groups from the Sydney Metropolitan and surrounding area and extending to Port Stephens in the north, Wollongong in the south and Lithgow in the West.
A further purpose is to hire out authentic items from our collection to assist Television and movie companies fulfil their needs when making television series, historical movies and educational programs.
Our Inter nondenominational War Memorial Chapel at the end of Pine Avenue overlooking the ocean is the only war memorial chapel celebrating the lives of those nurses who served in World War 1 and World War 2 in Australia. We manage and maintain this beautiful chapel which is well used for weddings, baptisms, funerals and memorial services.
This beautiful and unique venue with its vista over the ocean provides a wonderful setting for weddings as well as a calming place to revisit memories during funerals.
We have business arrangements with several local venues including the Prince Henry Center, St Michael's Golf Club, The Coast Golf Club, Little Hutong Chinese Restaurant and Yarra Bay Sailing Club whereby people have a place to extend their functions. These venues are recommended to our tour groups for lunches and chapel users for receptions and wakes.
The Association owes its continued existence to our dedicated volunteers looking after our Sunday visitors, hosting tours and keeping the museum in tip top condition to comply with local, state and federal charitable not for profit associations guidelines. Our volunteers now come from many walks of life, who have a desire to maintain and uphold the memories of the Coast/Prince Henry Hospital, in areas dedicated to Nursing and Medical Science from early 1881 till more recent times.
Due to the multipurpose nature of the above historical entities, people from Sydney and indeed around the world are fortunate to be able to visit and utilise these important historical community centers. We are also fortunate to be able to regularly welcome new volunteers to help continue the great work of all the volunteers at the Prince Henry Hospital Nursing and Medical Museum and the Nurses War Memorial Chapel at Little Bay.
