Wife and Husband team, Melanie and Anthony (a Kiama local) opened Café Kiama & Scoops Ice Creamery in April 2020 and have brought the old-fashioned milk-bar vibe back to this shop, with a modern twist.
They are open every day of the year, including on Public Holidays (with no surcharge to customers – accepting cash and EFTPOS) and open well after most other businesses have turned their coffee machines off for the day. The colourful uniforms, lively music, ample seating and friendly local school kids who staff the store (under adult supervision) make it a fun experience.
With over 50 flavours of ice cream, sorbet and real Italian gelato, there is something for everyone, including old-school banana splits and ice cream sundaes!
They are famous for their extra thick Thickshakes, Milkshakes and Supershakes, not to mention their Iced Coffees and Iced Chocolates.
You can mix and match, taste-test, do half and half scoops - nothing is too much trouble. They also provide a range of candy treats that can be added to your orders.
With arguably the best coffee in Kiama – using famed coffee beans ‘Hyper Hyper’ roasted in Nowra, they are producing an authentic 50’s flavoursome mid-northern Italian-style espresso. They are also serving Australia’s number one ‘Bondi’ Chai Latte, Kakaoda hot chocolate with (or without) marshmallows and all your favourite hot and iced coffee styles.
Their menu also includes snacks such as: hot waffles, pancakes, hot dogs, banana bread, raisin toast, warm chocolate brownies with ice cream, gelato or sorbet. Check-out their display for a daily range of cakes and muffins.
